Boys varsity volleyball compete at Districts

The boys varsity volleyball team will compete at the District tournament this Saturday at Mehlville High School.

MHS is in Class 4 with 20 other teams. The team will play 4 games, the first one starting at 9 a.m.

“We have played a lot of games lately that will prepare us for the hard district games we will have,” captain Joe Kimerle, senior, said. “I think we have a great shot of getting out of districts and we will have to win some big upsets from there on.”

8 teams from Class 4 advance to state.

“State is a lot more intense because everyone knows that their season is at stake so they play a lot harder,” Kimerle said. “The pressure just makes me want to play harder if anything.”

Jack Feeney, junior feels similarly.

“I usually don’t get nervous, even when things are close,” Feeney said. “I love to play under pressure.”

Out of the 20 teams in the boys division, they have a few that they expect to be higher competition than others.

“I am excited to play Vianney who is number one in state and to see what we, as a team, can do in the state tournament coming up,” Feeney said. “I’m very excited to show everyone what we can do as a team this weekend.”
