Rockwood’s Board of Education is composed of seven board members; on Thursday, Oct. 20, Matthew Fitzpatrick resigned, leaving the director’s position open.
The Board is now seeking applicants to fill the vacated position. “Candidates must be citizens of the United States, residents of the Rockwood School District, residents of Missouri for at least one year preceding the appointment, and at least 24 years of age,” according to a Rockwood press release.
“This position is temporary,” Kim Cranston, chief communications officer, said. “The appointed member would only serve until April 2012, when we will hold elections.”
Applications can be obtained from the Rockwood Administrative Center and are due Friday, Nov. 11.
“The Board of Education will then conduct interviews on Monday, Nov. 28,” Cranston said. “And the new member will be administered the oath of office on Thursday, Dec. 1.”
Cranston said this type of situation has happened before, and this process will follow Board Policy.
