Student Spotlight: Julia Zigman
Julia Zigman, junior, is a student who is not only a triplet but also a member of the color guard team here at MHS.
She is currently the captain of color guard and became involved with the competitive activity during her freshman year.
“I got joined the guard team in freshman year. A lot of my friends are involved in marching band and I wanted to be a part of that. So I found out about color guard and fell in love with it,” Zigman said.
She said color guard is a combination of sports and arts. They spin rifles, sabers, and flags to different music with a coordinated routine.
“We also compete with the marching band in the fall and on our own in the winter and spring,” Zigman said.
Zigman said their next competition is in about a week, state is two weeks later and then they have to look towards the world competition after that.
She said the team has been working really hard for a while now to prepare for their competitions.
“We have been practicing for weeks in preparation,” Zigman said.
She said she encourages people to audition for the fall season during this upcoming April.
