Students receive Glory of Missouri awards
In February, 14 seniors were recognized for receiving the Glory of Missouri awards. Lauren Zigman, senior, is one of them.
“Glory of Missouri is a state award. It is 14 kids that get picked in every school, out of a bunch of nominees. They each represent one of Missouri’s virtues. Its a big honor, is what the award really is”, Zigman said, who was nominated for the virtue of Progress.
Caden Sparks, senior, was nominated for the virtue of Honor. He said that it was based off of a statue Missouri legislation passed that recognized the 14 virtues of leadership.
Nominees for Marquette are all seniors, each representing a different virtue that Missouri finds to be valuable and worth celebrating.
“The senior principal every year coordinates the nomination and voting process and sets up the day trip to Jefferson for the awards”, Dr. Don Ramsey said.
The 14 virtues are: Knowledge, Liberty, Equality, Law, Justice Fraternity, Education, Progress, Honor, Truth, Virtue, Temperance, Enterprise, Charity.
